It’s been years since I felt the sadness I did this morning upon remembering this is the date Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

Maybe I’m getting soft and sentimental in my old age, but hearing Dr. King’s final sermon this morning really messed me up.

It is beyond comprehension to REALLY understand how close Dr. King and his family lived with death on a daily basis.

Every. Single. Day.

His speech is truly astonishing in how enlightened, courageous and fearless he was, looking death in the face and telling God he was ready to go home. This was a true man of faith, who lived his faith daily.

While Dr. King may have been ready to go to his heavenly home, the rest of us are still grappling with the fallout of 1968, even to this day. I am honored to be able to remember this painful date in history. I join with others to bring to fruition the future Dr. King saw clearly, his last days on this earth. We are NOT Alone!

Take the time over the next day or so to listen to the entire speech if you can. If it doesn’t send chills down your spine, maybe you’re not as evolved as you believe you are.

Thanks for reading. Have a blessedly peaceful day of remembrance.
