There is a vast difference between being BROKE, living in poverty and having a Poverty Mentality. In fact, they are universes apart.

There are some for whom NOTHING will ever be enough. They are infected with the greed virus, there is seldom a cure for such tomfoolery.

Others can’t seem to comprehend Wants and NEEDS are quite different animals. They equate what they WANT to be some all encompassing free pass to act badly, underhandedly, cruelly and/or criminally in an attempt to get what they WANT. They don’t have the common sense or morality to understand needs and WANTS are quite different.

Then there are others who, no matter the appearance, don’t “feel” poor. I am in this category. Please believe there have been times whee I was down to my last penny. Literally. I balanced my checkbook (for those among us who know what THAT IS), and I had 1 PENNY left, the day before my direct deposit. That is some financial jujitsu for your ass!

I have gone to market with $20, and got enough food for several meals, lunches and dinners. And got back a few cents in change. I say all this not to brag, but to show how thinking differently brings different and more favorable outcomes. Of course, this was years ago, but going to the market and being able to get cereal, milk, eggs, hotdogs, ground turkey, chicken and barbecue sauce was a miracle. I held my breath as she rang up our items. Because after filling my tank, I had $20 left, 2 kids and myself to feed for dinner and packed lunches for at least a week. I did an audible HALLELUJAH when I saw my total, and several Thank YOU GOD as well!

I want you to remember every time you persevered over the what appeared to be the worst situation. I need you to dig deep and REMEMBER what you are capable of. NOW is the time when you, I and our communities will need ALL of US to REMEMBER how awesome and graced We ARE.
