Discovering Yourself: The Importance of Alone Time

“If you are lonely when you’re alone, you are in bad company.” Jean-Paul Sartre

As we grow into OURSELVES, we become more comfortable with being ALONE. If being alone frightens you, perhaps, you have more growing to do.

This is not a judgment, it is simple fact. The person you will ALWAYS be with is YOU. Therefore, Being WITH YOURSELF is a life lesson we all must learn, for we die – alone. Why not learn to LIVE a full, joyous life – ALONE? After all, when you find a life partner, you will be bringing a whole person to the table, not a needy person who cannot stand on their own. You will bring someone unafraid to BE Alone – so the thought of them leaving won’t frighten you or cause you to do harm to yourself or others. Broken people hurt people at the thought of being left. Heal yourself and be yourself for you are the most important person in this equation.

Many things are daunting – start small. Take yourself to lunch. Splurge or not. Take some reading material or work that needs to be completed so you don’t “feel” self conscious.

What I have found out people watching is most people don’t give a shit what you are doing, they are too wrapped up in themselves or their phones.

I love afternoon matinees, especially since I can pick my seat ahead of time and ensure there is no one close to me.

Be brave. Be Grown. Be an adult. Try being alone – and see how it feels.

As always, I will share when I am using AI. The picture depicts a person at a table with a view, drinking coffee and reading. When I am alone, I pick the best table with a great view of either the patrons inside or outside. A perfect date for one! This picture was generated for Your Spiritual Garden.

Thanks for reading!
