Sacrifice: Give up (something important or valued) for the sake of other considerations.

Consider if you will, how powerful TRUE sacrifice is. Let’s be honest. Aside from sacrificing for family (and only some families do that) most people are not willing to sacrifice much of anything.

Not willing to sacrifice driving safely so all of us get home.
Not willing to sacrifice their beliefs by allowing others the right to their OWN beliefs.
Not willing to sacrifice time to make their children’s schools better for all kids.
The list is ENDLESS.

I am tardy writing this post, but it has been on my mind since July 21, 2024. That is the fateful Sunday when President Joe Biden decided to step down – and endorse VP Harris.

I won’t waste time decrying how poorly SOME members of the Democratic party treated our sitting president. It was the worst back stabbing I’ve seen since high school, mean girl fights. It was unwarranted and felt vicious and underhanded. While some people wanted Biden to step down, I am not one of them.

But here is where the worm turned, and went to work for the greater good.

There is POWER in sacrifice. Ask any mom who doesn’t eat because there is only enough food for the kids (been there, done that). Ask any soldier who lays his life down for his fellow soldiers.

Ask a sitting president what is best for him? Every president save ONE would never have considered what Joe Biden DID. He sacrificed HIS power, HIS place in history to ensure WE The PEOPLE have a fighting chance against the evils of white supremacy.
