“It doesn’t matter how slowly you go, as long as you don’t stop”
Confucius
After going non-stop for weeks, a little down time is deserved and well earned. Take a breath, and relax for a few.
There is so many things our families, communities and country need from each of us. We won’t be able to answer the call if we are stressed, exhausted or can’t remember where we left our car keys or our tennis shoes!
Self care isn’t selfish. Self care is empowering. Self care shows other people you care about YOURSELF, thus requiring they treat you accordingly. Don’t fall for the lies and guilt trips. Your kids, husband, man and family will be just fine if you carve out time to take a leisurely bath. Or schedule a massage. Or hideaway with great book. OR take a class. You will be shocked at how self reliant your family is, when they HAVE to be.
So, let them figure out what’s for dinner, who’s turn it is for dishes etc. Make it clear when you open the door from wherever you went, you expect a clean kitchen and a calm house. It takes a while to train older kids, but the younger you start, the easier and more self reliant they will be. That is great for you and them!
Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.
Thanks for reading.
