There is little to add about the courageous life of Representative John Lewis. He fought against hate, bigotry and disenfranchisement his entire life.
With the current “awakening” of white America, I am heartened to see the dawning of understanding that talking about black people being murdered, buy cops or each other, about systematic disenfranchisement of education, of job opportunities, of brutal over policing and imprisonment is NOT pulling the RACE CARD. It’s OUR LIVES! NONE of this is by accident, every bit is by design.
There is another world, one where we all are actually given the same opportunities, the same level playing field. It is only when this is actually true, not as words but as actions and deeds, will be all be the same kind of FREE.
Make no mistake, the powers or white supremacy WILL fight back. The fight will be brutal, ruthless and dirty. It is aided and abetted by police departments, their unions, the DOJ and the hateful donald trump. They will not go quietly into that dark night. For that I am grateful. Today, they are and will continue to show exactly who they are.
When YOU see them, believe it and don’t give them the unearned benefit of the doubt. If you are here to create a “better world” make sure it is a world better for ALL OF US, not just a few…
